Franz Waibel joined Basel Area Business & Innovation in July 2020.
He gained over 25 years management and leadership expertise through global and European executive leadership roles within Novartis, Pfizer, Bayer and Vifor Pharma. This is complemented by more than 6 years of consulting expertise with his own firm. He worked and lived for over 15 years in the US, Belgium and Germany.
Franz Waibel studied Cell- and Molecular Biology, Pharmacology and Business Administration. He completed his PhD at the University of Basel, Switzerland. He gained an MS from the University of Freiburg, Germany and an MBA from the University of Birmingham, UK.
Anke Hollnagel joined Basel Area Business & Innovation in 2019.
She was previously Head of Marketing and Sales at Doetsch Grether Ltd., a medium-sized Swiss pharmaceutical company. She also worked as a Senior Brand Manager for Colgate-Palmolive Ltd. and Consultant for Boston Consulting Group.
Anke Hollnagel studied Food Chemistry at the Technical University of Berlin and Leeds University. She obtained a PhD in Food Chemistry from the TU of Berlin and an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen.
Daniel Meier has been with Basel Area Business & Innovation since 2016.
He has worked in various functions at the predecessor organization BaselArea since 2007. Before this, he worked as Senior Consultant with KPMG in the field of Corporate Tax and as Account Manager at MLP Private Finance for wealthy private customers.
Daniel Meier studied law at the universities of Basel and Bern.
Krishna Bhatia is a well-experienced international economic development professional with knowledge in both, investment and trade promotion.
Before joining Basel Area Business & Innovation, she worked as a trade officer at the Netherland Business Support Office in Bangalore and was responsible for promoting bilateral business relations between the Netherlands and India. Prior to this, she was working with Syndicate Bank, a government bank based in India, in international corporate banking.
Krishna Bhatia is a graduate from Delhi University in statistics and completed her master in business administration at the University of Goa. She is fluent in English, Hindi and Tamil.
Diana Cortesi has worked with Basel Area Business & Innovation since 2018.
Diana Cortesi previously worked in Strategic Sales and Marketing at Miele. She brings with her valuable professional experience in a variety of business sectors like pharmaceuticals, insurance and start-ups.
Diana Cortesi completed a trilingual degree in International Business Management, studying in Colmar in France, Lörrach in Germany and Basel in Switzerland, supplemented with a semester in Cambridge in the UK. She subsequently completed an MBA in Bern with a specialization in Corporate Development.
Florent Donzé has been working for Basel Area Business & Innovation since 2018.
Previously, Florent Donzé worked for KMPG in the field of Audit Global Accounts with a focus on life science. In addition, he possesses valuable experience in different industries such as pharmacy, cosmetics and furniture.
Florence Donzé graduated with an MA in Accounting and Finance at the University of St. Gallen.
Ronghui Gao joined Basel Area Business & Innovation in 2017.
Ronghui Gao is the founder and CEO of G-Med Consulting, and is specialized in supporting European SMEs to access to China and helping Chinese companies invest in the west. He co-founded the new European BioMedical Centre in Shanghai and led international collaboration and business development for the life science parks Biobay and China Medical City. Prior to this, he worked in infectious disease management and in the commercial division of Nestlé in China. In the UK, he was part of the pharmaceutical marketing company InforMed.
Ronghui Gao holds a clinical medical degree from Qingdao University Medical College and an MBA from Manchester Business School.
Fabio Marelli has been working for Basel Area Business & Innovation since 2020.
Prior to this, he completed internships at the Swiss Embassy in Berlin and at SWISS International Air Lines, and worked for Baloise and UBS during his studies.
Fabio Marelli studied economics at the University of Basel and graduated with a Master’s degree in Markets and Public Policy in 2019.
Thomas Nirnberger started working at Basel Area Business & Innovation in 2019.
He previously worked at MediPaCe as Consultant and Operations Lead in the field of Patient Centricity. Before that, he held various roles at the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca in Sweden and Germany, including assignments in Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Management and Procurement, where he supported functions from Early Research, Clinical Development and Medical Affairs to Market Access.
Thomas Nirnberger studied Molecular Biotechnology at FH Campus Vienna, University of Applied Sciences.
Astrid Oyo joined Basel Area Business & Innovation in 2018.
Prior to that, she built a successful start-up business in investment/real estate/design, led international business development as Global VP IKEA Business and consulted for BCG on pan-European strategies with a focus on Consumer Goods and Retail industries. Astrid Oyo served on the boards of Center for Women Business Research (CWBR) and Women’s Leadership Exchange (WLE).
Astrid Oyo graduated from University of Zürich with an MA in Business and Organizational Behavior, and gained an MBA from Kellogg School of Management/Northwestern University. She is fluent in German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian and Swedish.
Andreas Paulicks is a Senior Partner at the consulting firm PM&P and has been the Chief Representative in Germany and Austria for Basel Area Business & Innovation and formerly for the predecessor organization BaselArea. He has worked for PM&P as a Consultant for Strategic Marketing and International Expansion for over 20 years. During this time, he has advised companies such as Emerson, ABB, Michelin and Alstom as well as investment promotion agencies in investor acquisition.
Andreas Paulicks holds a degree in business administration with a specialization in marketing.
Jayne Riemer-Chishty has been working for Basel Area Business & Innovation since 2019.
She is Vice President Global Relationships at BootUP Ventures in Silicon Valley. Previously, she was responsible for trade promotion and representation at GACC Midwest (AHK USA – Chicago). Her international career at Deutsche Bank took her to the Basel Area, where she supported the region’s dynamic life science companies.
Jayne Riemer-Chishty holds a BA in International Economics & Cultural Affairs and German from Valparaiso University and completed a Management Development Program at IMD in Lausanne.
Maxime Ung has been working for Basel Area Business & Innovation since 2020.
Prior to that, Maxime Ung worked in China with international companies in the high-tech and audio/video sector. He was a consultant at the Paris International Chamber of Commerce with a focus on Asia. Maxime Ung further founded Frootful Connexions. The consulting agency supports companies from Europe and Asia in growing their business and entering new markets.
Maxime Ung holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from INSEEC Business School in Paris, and a Master in International Development from ISEAM Management School in Paris.
