Swiss made software label awarded to 1000th company

03.06.2022

Swiss made software GmbH has now awarded its seal of quality to its 1,000th member firm. The “swiss made software” label, in addition to the more recent “swiss digital services” and “swiss hosting” labels, stands for Swiss values in software development, data protection and domestic value creation.

On June 2, the Basel-based firm swiss made software GmbH celebrated a milestone by welcoming its 1,000th label member. As such, according to a press release, swiss made software is now the Swiss ICT organization with the most affiliated companies. According to the information in the press release, they all stand for high-quality software development and are committed to the Swiss digital workplace.

By the end of the year, Managing Partner Christian Walter hopes to have gained at least another 100 firms for this seal of quality. After all, label members can “see clearly who we are and what we stand for: Swiss values in software development and ICT services business”, Walter explains in the press release. For Switzerland, ICT represents “a future industry for Switzerland, not only economically but also strategically”, he adds. Only a strong domestic ICT sector can guarantee digital sovereignty.

New services launched

Products and services have been awarded the “swiss made software” label since 2007. In 2019, the “swiss hosting” label was also launched. This makes clear that the data location is in Switzerland, that no data is transferred abroad and that exclusively Swiss authorities can access it. “In other words, the Cloud Act and similar attempts to undermine sovereignty in data storage do not apply”, the press release states. Subsidiaries of foreign companies and Swiss companies owned by foreign firms are not eligible for the swiss hosting label.

This was then supplemented in 2022 by the “swiss digital services” label. In such instances, the Swiss cross is a guarantee that at least 60 percent of the value creation takes place in Switzerland.
