InOpSys NV has founded a new subsidiary in the form of InOpSys GmbH, which is to be based in Basel. The Belgian cleantech company with offices in Mechelen and Antwerp has its sights set on growing across Europe and is targeting the Swiss, German, Irish and French markets as a starting point for this aim. Basel’s favorable geographical location, its abundance of highly qualified experts and the awareness of sustainability across Switzerland, among other aspects, were decisive factors behind the choice of location. In addition, the investment and innovation promotion agency Basel Area Business & Innovation has supported the process of establishing the business in the region. Strategic industry partner in the Basel Area
InOpSys GmbH will now seek to bring on board employees in the areas of sales, research and development, engineering and operations. In so doing, the cleantech firm is aiming to position itself to offer its services to the life sciences industry. In essence, InOpSys purifies water. However, its focus is on water volumes that were previously disposed of as wastewater after purification. After all, this water still contains valuable raw materials such as metals. InOpSys has developed a chemical solution to clean this water as well. As such, the raw materials obtained in this way can then be reused, while the additional clean water left over can also be put to good use. In this way, water and resources are returned to the cycle and do not have to be disposed of as has been the case up to now. For this purpose, InOpSys has developed mobile and modular units that are used on site.
According to Steven De Laet, CEO of InOpSys, the company has “developed innovative and sustainable solutions” that help customers to cut waste, minimize their carbon footprint and implement circular economy measures. “Now we aim to grow InOpSys GmbH and to become a strategic industry partner in the Basel Area and other core cities in Switzerland”, he adds.
